Tales of Roosevelt Island

Full gallery is here

After living in New York City for more than 3 years I finally got an opportunity during Christmas and New Years holidays to go to the Roosevelt Island.

Here's what Wiki says about it:

Roosevelt Island is a narrow island in New York City's East River. It lies between Manhattan Island to its west and the borough of Queens on Long Island to its east, and is part of the borough of Manhattan.

The island was called Minnehanonck by the Lenape and Varkens Eylandt (Hog Island) by New Netherlanders, and during the colonial era and later as Blackwell's Island. It was known as Welfare Island when it was used principally for hospitals, from 1921 to 1971.[5] It was renamed Roosevelt Island in 1971 after Franklin D. Roosevelt. The whole experience was something incredible - it was a rainy day in the morning, and that's exactly the type of weather I love for taking photographs as it adds a lot to the mood and vibe, and simply because I don't like blue sky on my photographs. But also I was amazed by the views, and the feeling of solitude you experience on the island. You should definitely check it out if you happen to be in New York!

Please enjoy the gallery here.

And thank you,

Eldalieee
